Days before Luweero district is to be declared Ebola-free, two suspected cases appear in central Uganda’s Mubende district.
According to New Vision, two children, from different families, were admitted to the hospital on Thursday night because they were vomiting blood.
Doctors reported to the publication that it is unlikely that this is Ebola, as no other Ebola symptoms presented. However, samples have been sent to the Uganda Virus Research Institute in Entebbe for confirmation.
One of the doctors reported that both children had improved by Friday morning.
According to the WHO, the maximum incubation period for Ebola is 21 days. The Ugandan Ministry of Health waited 42 days after the last Ebola case was found in Kibaale district before declaring the outbreak over. Should no new cases appear in Luweero before Jan. 16, it will be declared Ebola-free.
